Kaizer Chiefs are expected to secure the services of a new coach with Cavin Johnson set to return to his original position come the end of the season.

Despite the defeat to Milford FC in the Nedbank Cup last 32, Amakhosi are expected to finish the campaign with Johnson at the helm and will be working tirelessly behind the scenes to secure the services of a new coach who will serve the team from 2024/25 onwards.

Concerns have been raised within management over the shock exit in the Nedbank Cup over the weekend and it's understood that the club is determined to turn things around to avoid making it 10 years without a trophy in the cabinet.

Johnson has been interim coach since the club parted ways with Molefi Ntseki towards the end of last year and had at one point been tipped as someone who can take over on a permanent basis. While the club has been impressed with the work he has done over the last few months since taking charge, indications are that management does not feel he is someone who can take over in the long term.

Amakhosi have been inundated with coaches who are interested in the head coaching role, but it's believed that the club is on a head-hunting mission to bring in someone who is capable of getting the club out of the tough situation it finds itself in.

Former Chiefs coach Molefi Ntseki revealed in an interview with Soccer Laduma recently that Amakhosi interviewed a few coaches before they appointed him as head coach before the start of this season. The club will be hoping that they can find their man this season to avoid going through another campaign of turmoil.
