The 31-year-old winger sustained a serious injury while representing the Selecao in this international break, just four months after undergoing surgery for a different issue.
Neymar had to be substituted just before half-time in Brazil's 2-0 defeat to Uruguay in a 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier as he was stretchered off in tears with what appeared to be a knock to his left knee.
Al Hilal and the player's worst fears have since been confirmed, with the Saudi giants having issued a statement to reveal their star signing will be going under the knife again.
"The medical tests Neymar underwent, confirmed the anterior cruciate ligament and meniscus tear injury in his knee, he will be going through surgery and then a treatment programme that will be determined later. Return Stronger," the club wrote in a statement posted on social media.
Neymar joined the Saudi Pro League side in August following a six-year stay at Paris Saint-Germain, where he had suffered multiple long-term injuries.
