The story
Former Bafana Bafana and Crystal Palace player Kagisho Dikgacoi has addressed rumors circulating about his marriage to Carina McKechnie, speaking with TimesLive and urging his followers to refrain from assuming the worst about his private life.
Reports of their alleged separation emerged after fans noted Carina's absence from Dikgacoi's social media posts, speculating about a breakup.
In an interview with TshisaLIVE, Dikgacoi, currently occupied with obtaining his CAF coaching license, attributed the strain on his family dynamic to his demanding schedule abroad.
He clarified that while Carina has taken on an opportunity to work in England, they remain committed to their marriage. Despite the physical distance, he emphasized their ongoing communication and his regular visits to his family overseas.
"My wife and I are still married, it's just an opportunity came through for her to work in England. She's a hard worker, and not a single day will pass without talking to her and our kids. I'm still adjusting to her absence at our home, and social media followers aren't making things easy.
"I'm violated by the remarks, but what can I say, what's in the social media is out of my control. My marriage is intact, from time to time I go to visit my family in England."

Acknowledging the impact of social media speculation on his personal life, Dikgacoi expressed frustration at the assumptions made by online followers but acknowledged the limitations of controlling such narratives.
Dikgacoi, who played for Crystal Palace, Fulham FC and Cardiff City during his playing days, emphasized that their marriage remains intact, attributing the rumors to misconceptions arising from his busy schedule and Carina's absence from public view:
"The rumours aren't new to me, but like I said I'm busy, and some people noticed that my wife has been missing in the picture, and they concluded that we're done as a couple," he told TshisaLIVE.
In 2016, the pair exchanged vows in a traditional ceremony held in Manzini, Swaziland, followed by an extravagant wedding celebration at the Polo Room in Sandton.
Among the notable guests in attendance were luminaries like Simphiwe Tshabalala, Mato Madlala, Cassper Nyovest, and Major League DJ, with a special performance from Mi Casa.
