Kekana, Ndoro & Manyama Amongst Top 5 Match Winners
The players that won the most games for their teams this season
Hlompho Kekana and Tendai Ndoro join Lebogang Manyama in the top five players who have secured more wins for their respective teams this season than anyone else.
As the old adage goes, goals win games, but more often than not a goal can prove to be insignificant in the grander context of a result. For example, scoring a goal in a 3-1 win is far less significant than scoring a goal that swings the game in your favour and gives your team the platform to secure all three points for your team. The pressure is higher and defences work harder. And when it comes to the best match-winners in the game, the Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder, the Orlando Pirates striker and the Cape Town City attacking midfielder have been right up there amongst the best in the 2016/17 Absa Premiership season.

Mamelodi Sundowns’ Kekana scored five goals over the course of the season, with all of them deciding the game, including strikes against Golden Arrows (a 3-0 win), Baroka FC (a 1-0 win), Bidvest Wits (a 2-0 win, SuperSport United (a 1-0 win) and Golden Arrows again (a 2-0 win), with the veteran midfielder being the man to score the first goal in all of those games.
Meanwhile, Manyama scored winning goals against Mamelodi Sundowns, Maritzburg United, Bidvest Wits, Highlands Park and Sundowns again, with all of those goals, except for the Highlands Park one, being scored in the second half and being the last goal of the game.
Ndoro was a match-winner on four occasions, with strikes against Golden Arrows, Ajax Cape Town, Free State Stars and Chippa United all eventually earning three points for his team.
The other two players to make up the top five are Golden Arrows’ Knox Mutizwa and SuperSport United’s Thuso Phala, with four match-winners each.
