Chiefs, Downs & Pirates Stars Amongst The Goalless Strugglers
The longest goalless runs in the PSL
Today we take a look at the players who have played the most games in the Absa Premiership without having scored any goals in the last decade.
While all of the players on our list are defenders and their primary role in their respective teams are to keep the ball out of the back of the net, rather than putting it in, it must be said that goalscoring instinct as a defender can add an extra element to their team, as has been the case with the likes of Lorenzo Gordinho at Kaizer Chiefs and Thabo Nthethe at Mamelodi Sundowns, for example.

At the top of our list is Siyanda Zwane, who has made 145 appearances in the league without scoring a goal for Mamelodi Sundowns or Golden Arrows. He is then followed by Orlando Pirates left back, Patrick Phungwayo, who has made 141 appearances without scoring a goal for Bidvest Wits or Orlando Pirates. Next in line is Kaizer Chiefs’ Tsepo Masilela, who has failed to score for his current employers as well as Thanda Royal Zulu in 137 appearances.
Rounding off the top five are Golden Arrows’ Limbikani Mzava and Chippa United’s Siyabonga Ngubane, who haven’t scored in 103 and 102 Absa Premiership appearances, respectively.
