Bucs And SSU Monitor Downs Defender
Sundowns Defender Monitored By Pirates And SuperSport
Orlando Pirates and SuperSport United are believed to be monitoring the situation with Siyanda Zwane at Mamelodi Sundowns.
Zwane has attracted interest from both Pirates and SuperSport, as his exit from the Chloorkop-based outfit is seemingly more likely. The 32-year-old has not featured in a single competitive game for Coach Pitso Mosimane’s side during the current campaign.
The defender has battled for regular game-time at Sundowns in recent times. The latest news coming out of Chloorkop is that the player’s absence this season is due to the fact that he is recovering from a toe injury.
The former Golden Arrows player was strongly linked with a move to Pirates during the last transfer window. As reported in the latest Soccer Laduma, issue 1040, Bucs are believed to have not given up on signing the player.
The Buccaneers have been joined by Matsatsantsa in their interest in the right back. In June, Sundowns exercised the one-year option they had on Zwane’s contract to keep him in Mosimane’s squad for the current season.
Zwane’s agent, Mandla Mthembu, has confirmed that the player will be assessing his options as he approaches the last six months of his contract with Sundowns.
“We are concerned at the situation. His contract ends at the end of the season. In January, he will be free to sign a contract with a team of his choice. We will assess his situation in January. All he needs is game-time,” said Mthembu.
