Komphela Discusses Fan Backlash At Chiefs
Steve Komphela Has Reacted To The Supporter Backlash At Kaizer Chiefs
Steve Komphela is not a very popular man in the eyes of many Kaizer Chiefs supporters at present, saying that the team need to answer the backlash by getting results.
Komphela had to be escorted off the field in Durban this weekend following the Amakhosi’s loss to Baroka FC at Moses Mabhida Stadium, with some sections of fans calling for his head after failing to win for the 12th time in the last 15 matches.
‘Steve Must Go’ chants were happening in the stadium after Gift Motupa’s goal secured victory for Bakgaga, and Komphela has admitted that the current situation at Naturena is not good enough.
He told Chiefs’ official website, “We are supposed to answer the backlash of our supporters through the performance on the pitch. Nothing but winning will convince our supporters. We simply have to work even harder to get back to winning ways.
“Nine points from seven matches is not good enough for Chiefs… We have to improve drastically and make sure we become more consistent in winning our games.”
Chiefs’ next game is against Mamelodi Sundowns after the international break.
