There were unconfirmed reports that two people have been killed and several injured at the FNB Stadium.

"As things stand at the moment, we can confirm two fatalities caused by blunt force trauma, one critically injured and sixteen spectator with minor injuries. This incident is extremely unfortunate as solid security plans were put in place in conjunction with SAPS and various other stake holders, to ensure that this is a risk-free event.

"Since the inception of the Carling Black Label Cup in 2011, we have had record attendance and incident free events.

"The South African Police Services and Stadium Management South Africa are working together to investigate this matter.  As Carling Black Label, Kaizer Chiefs, Orlando Pirates and SMSA - We wish to express our sincere condolences to the families of those affected by the incident. @Mpotsa Ask your Club PRO to organise that charity cup for your club, your comment is based on jealousy, nobody can help if your club PRO is not doing his job, Chiefs and Pirates PRO's are working hard in ensuring their respective clubs and fans get what they deserve

The incident owner are Sponsors of this tournament, it was sad for me listening to Power FM Sport Journalist blaming the Stadium Management for this death. The Sponsors failed to conduct logistical HIRA (Hazard Identifiaction & Risk Assessmen) with all stakeholders i.e. Clubs Security Department, Stadium management, Club Fans Executives, Radio & TV Sport Journalists, prior this tournament took place and to execute incident mitigation measures

Ppl must stop blaming the formation of this cup or what what,if u check the psl gams or cup games u wil notice fans streaming in rushing cos the games hv started, its just luck for them that thr r nt enough fans to cause stampede.stop blaming everybody involved and leaving the supporters themselve.they r the main culprits.jhburger hotel ws abuzz with almost every province no.plate.the taxis wr leaving as early as 9h00am .by 13h00pm they wr non existent. Even ths who wr singing outside at 15h15 as we saw on the screens .

Too much of something is not good we should minimize the number of derbies where we can i mean can you imagine the damage if it was an official cup final? As for coming to the stadiums early it's something that is not easy to control because the supporters have their reasons for being late whether good or not.
