PSL referee, Victor Gomes, has been tasked with officiating in the Champions League semi-final match for Egyptian giants Al Ahly SC and Etoile Sportive du Sahel of Tunisia.

Gomes is to be assisted by the Mzansi duo of Lindikhaya Bolo and Sello Moshidi in his continental duties at the match to be played at the Alexandria-Borg El Arab Stadium in Egypt on October 22.

SAFA has confirmed the latest developments regarding the match officials.

“South African referee, Victor Gomes has been tasked with officiating the crunch CAF Champions League semi-final encounter between Al Ahly SC and Etoile Sportive du Sahel set to be played at the Alexandria-Borg El Arab Stadium in Egypt on Sunday, 22 October.

“Gomes’ appointment comes (on) the back of a number of solid officiating at recent CAF competitions. The 34-year-old (official) will be accompanied by Lindikhaya Bolo and Sello Moshidi as his assistant referees who are both not new to such occasions having officiated in a number of CAF Cup competitions,” SAFA stated on their official website.

SAFA’s technical committee chairperson, Natasha Tsichlas, has wished the match officials well for the game.

“Such call-ups are not to be taken lightly as it shows the trust bestowed upon the Association. We are continuously hard at work in developing quality referees who can represent us to the world. We wish the three referees the best of luck in Egypt,” Tsichlas told SAFA’s website.

Mamelodi Sundowns will announce Korean motor company Hyundai as their new vehicle sponsor on Friday in Bedfordview to replace Honda. Sundowns have been without a car sponsor since their relationship with Honda ended about three months ago and in the past the Brazilians have had Nissan and Dodge as their car suppliers. Meanwhile‚ Sundowns return to league action on Tuesday with a blockbuster clash against fierce rivals Kaizer Chips at Loftus in Pretoria where they will be looking for three points to move a few places up the log from their current fifth place. Chiefs will be looking to return to winning ways after they lost their last league match 2-1 to Baroka FC at Moses Mabhida Stadium before the Fifa international break to pile more pressure on coach Steve Komphela.
