Pirates Target Kills Transfer Talk With Record Deal
Ronwen Williams Has Signed A New SuperSport United Contract
Orlando Pirates’ hopes of signing Ronwen Williams have taken a severe hit after the goalkeeper penned a new long-term contract at SuperSport United.
The Siya crew reported recently that the 25-year-old was close to agreeing to a new deal with Matsatsantsa after they underwent talks about extending his time there and it has now been confirmed that he has put pen to paper on a lengthy new deal.
Williams has been a target for Pirates due to their ongoing problems in the goalkeeper department, but it now appears that they will have to look elsewhere after he committed to his current club for the foreseeable future.
It's the first time that SuperSport have ever given a player a straight five-year deal, and club CEO, Stan Matthews, is delighted that it is going to a player who has been with them since he was 12-years-old.
SuperSport United CEO Stanley Matthews, “This is the first time we have given a player a straight 5-year deal and Ronwen thoroughly deserves it.
"He has worked his way through the ranks from the age of 12 putting in many years of hard work in our academy and now in our first team. In a day and age where player loyalty is a rare commodity we are delighted to reward Ronwen for his dedication and excellent performances at the club both on and off the field of play."
