Eagles Defeat Arrows To Clinch Premiers Cup
National First Division side, Royal Eagles defeated Golden Arrows 3-0 on penalties to be crowned winners of the Premiers Cup on Sunday afternoon.
The action began on Saturday, as Real Kings defeated Richards Bay FC 3-1 on penalties to set up a semi-final tie with Royal Eagles.
Arrows booked their spot in the last four, after they thumped Maritzburg United 4-1 with Knox Mutizwa (2), Lerato Lamola, Kudakwashe Mahachi getting on the score-sheet.
Kings faced Royal Eagles in the semi-final on Sunday morning, but were unable to overcome the National First Division side. Clinton Larsen's charges, meanwhile, claimed a 2-0 win over Uthongathi to secure their spot in the final.
Moving to the final, Eagles opened the scoring in the opening courtesy of a free-kick from Makgothi.
Arrows had to wait long for the equaliser as Thabiso Mgwaba headed home in the closing stages and ultiamtely forcing the clash into a penalty shoot-out.
It was Eagles who held their nerve in the shoot-out, as they triumphed 3-0 to claim the cup.
