Ndlanya On Chiefs’ Signings & Why They Lack Trophies For Two Seasons
Pollen Ndlanya Discusses Kaizer Chiefs' Transfers
Former Kaizer Chiefs striker Pollen Ndlanya has spoken about his thoughts on who the club needs to sign, saying that a striker is a priority.
Chiefs have acquired the signatures of Teenage Hadebe, Bongolethu Jayiya and Philani Zulu so far, with a number of other players also being linked with the club. Ndlanya has spoken about their activity so far but has said they need to sign more players and that they need to focus on quality, not quantity.
“They need to sign a couple of players. I mean, I think they’ve done a lot of buying and have offloaded a lot of players,” he told Soccer Laduma. “So, I think this time they need to be careful and buy quality players – players that can fight for their position. So, the results speak for themselves and Kaizer Chiefs have got no trophies for two seasons. It shows that they made the wrong signings. Hopefully, they’ll buy quality players and they’ll win some trophies.”
The 47-year-old went on to say that he believes the club needs to focus on bringing in a consistent goalscorer, such as those that the club boasted in years gone by.
“There are a lot of players that I was thinking they should buy, such as the one that’s gone to Pirates, (Thamsanqa) Sangweni,” he continued. “Now, they need to buy a quality striker, because they’re creating chances in most of their games, but nobody is putting the ball in the net. Hence, we need quality strikers like in my days, like Shane McGregor or Fani Madida… I’m talking about consistent strikers. They need a consistent striker that they can make a target man. Once they have that quality striker, who they can rely on, it will be much better for the team.”
