Dikwena Boss On Why They Appointed Butler
Peter Butler Says He's Excited To Join Platinum Stars
New Platinum Stars head coach, Peter Butler, says he’s very excited to join the club, and his chairman says that his appointment shows their ‘intentions to go to another level’.
The Siya crew reported earlier this week that the Englishman was the favourite in line for the post after meeting with Dikwena management, explaining that his move to the club could be finalised on Thursday.
After resigning from his position as head coach of Botswana on Wednesday, Butler indeed put pen to paper yesterday, stating that the club’s facilities were one of the reasons he wanted to join.
He is quoted by the club as saying, “I am excited to join Platinum Stars…This is a very well run club administratively. I have been to the club’s campus before. I have always been impressed with the club’s facilities and hospitality.
What excites me here is the opportunity to build a balanced team with youth and experience."
Meanwhile, the club’s chairman, Cliff Ramoroa says Butler ‘came out tops’ after they had looked at several potential candidates.
"We have gone through a number of coaches throughout the country and other nations and we found Butler a worthy candidate. We interviewed a number of coaches and eventually Peter Butler came out tops out of the list of the coaches that we had.
"His appointment shows our intentions to go to another level. On behalf of the board, management, staff, players and supporters, we would like to pledge our unwavering support to the coach.”
Butler will official join Stars on July 1st, and will begin the process for his South African work permit in the meantime.
