Bucs Close In On Surpassing Last Season’s Record
Orlando Pirates On Track To Improvement
Orlando Pirates are closing in on improving from their win record of last season in the Absa Premiership.
The Buccaneers have won three games from five games this season, which is half the number won from 30 games last season. Pirates won six games from 30 games in their disappointing run of last season as the team finished the 2016/17 campaign in 11th position on the log – the team’s first ever finish outside of the Top 8 in the club’s history of the PSL era.
So far this season, Milutin Sredojevic and Rhulani Mokwena have guided the team to the summit of the PSL log with 11 points collected thus far. Under the Serbian head coach, Bucs have one of the best defences in the league this season.
The team has conceded only one goal during this campaign. The only other team that has managed that feat is Maritzburg United, although the KZN outfit has played one game less than Bucs.
While Sredojevic has introduced the one game at a time strategy to the team, the former Uganda senior national team coach has emphasised the importance for the team to play for the badge of the Soweto giants.
Pirates visit Bidvest Wits at the Bidvest Stadium in their next game on Saturday.
