Bucs Complete Goalkeeper Signing
Orlando Pirates Have Strengthened Goalkeeping Department
Orlando Pirates have completed the signing of goalkeeper Xolani Ngcobo, as confirmed by sources close to the club.
Ngcobo played for Thanda Royal Zulu in the National First Division last season.
It was revealed by the Siya crew last month that Pirates were close to signing the goalkeeper, following his impressive performances of last season for Thanda in their promotion-winning campaign.
Following the departure of Brighton Mhlongo, who has left Pirates for Chippa United, the Soweto giants are believed to have now decided to bolster the team’s goalkeeping department with Ngcobo in preparation for the new season.
"The goalkeeper from Thanda is at Pirates. With Brighton no longer with the team, he (Ngcobo) has joined the club," a source told the Siya crew.
Ngcobo was previously also on the books of Royal Eagles and Baroka FC respectively in his career.
The 23-year-old becomes the second goalkeeper signed by the Buccaneers in this transfer window, following their capture of former Mamelodi Sundowns shot-stopper, Wayne Sandilands.
