Pirates’ Next Big Transfer Target
Orlando Pirates Have Identified Next Big Target
Orlando Pirates will do everything in their power to strengthen the squad for the 2017/18 season with quality players during this transfer window.
Following a disappointing 2016/17 Absa Premiership season for Bucs, which has seen the team concede 40 goals, one of the areas that the club will need to strengthen is the defence.
Pirates finished the season in 11th place on the PSL log with 33 points, just five points out of the relegation zone.
In their aim to bring back glory days to the club, The Buccaneers have started adding quality to the team, following the completion of Thamsanqa Sangweni’s signing from Chippa United.
As reported in issue 1030 of Soccer Laduma, Bucs have their sights on Thulani Hlatshwayo from Bidvest Wits. Tyson has been identified as a potential marquee signing for Bucs, following his impressive performances for Wits on their way to winning the league this past season.
The Bafana Bafana defender captained the Students to their league and MTN8 cup double this past season and has also been chosen as Bafana captain under the new coach, Stuart Baxter.
According to sources close to Bucs, Hlatshwayo has been identified as a player who can finally replace former club captains Lucky Lekgwathi and Siyabonga Sangweni in the team, with both his performances and leadership qualities taken into consideration.
Both Lekgwathi and Sangweni have not yet been successfully replaced at Bucs since the duo retired from professional football months ago.

Meanwhile, Gavin Hunt and his technical team at Wits have been assessing outgoing Platinum Stars centre back, Rofhiwa Tshikovhi, with a view of possibly adding him to the squad.
