Orlando Pirates confirmed that the club is set to welcome Innocent Maela for the 2017/18 season.

Maela played for Thanda Royal Zulu in the National First Division last season. The 24-year-old defender was instrumental in helping Thanda to gain promotion to the PSL, during the successful 2016/17 campaign for the KwaZulu-Natal club.

While some reports in local media indicate that Maela has signed with Free State Stars, the Buccaneers confirmed that the left back will join them for the new season.

Maela has been named in the Bafana Bafana squad to take part in the COSAFA Cup in Rustenburg.

If you read the article Pirates did not sign the player. The player has always been a Pirates' player but was loaned to Thanda. The headline is misleading. Another proof that the editor is useless or is using sensations for people to use their data.
