Top Eight Finish Promise For Stars New Coach

Newly Appointed FS Stars Coach Aims For Top Eight Finish

By Soccer Laduma - Aug 28, 2017 03:42 PM

Newly appointed Free State Stars coach, Luc Eymael, has promised to guide the team to a top eight finish at the end of the season.

The Belgian coach replaced Sammy Troughton at Stars, as confirmed by the Bethlehem club last week.

“It will take time of hard work and a lot of commitment, and I want to thank the board for putting the confidence in me in leading their team and I hope I will repay them with good results.

“I also hope that together with my technical team, management, and the players we will work together to achieve more and I am adamant that we will achieve our goal at the end of the season.

“I don’t want to put pressure on myself but I will do my best to put the team in the top eight and I think I can succeed with the players we have – because the coach alone can do nothing.

“I will try and achieve and bring the best results into Free State Stars as I have done with my previous clubs. I will strive my best to help the team to improve,” Eymael told Stars’ official website.

In their next match, which will be on September 12 after their break, Ea Lla Koto will face Mamelodi Sundowns at Goble Park.

“It’s good to be back in South Africa and happy to have signed with Free State Stars. We have a good relationship with the management over the last season and we had good chats. But obviously, it was not about the contract but friendship and about soccer in general,” concluded the 57-year-old coach.

@molaobert, it is difficult to say if Ntate Mokoena has the best interest of his club at heart, remember he almost sold Free State Stars last year. I wouldn't be surprised if top 8 finish was Eymael 's mandate.

@setlaboswana Really.. top8 spot can't b a mand8 FSS has been campaigning in topflight over several years ago to set such mediocre goals. The FSS hierachy should carry the blame for such inferiority a team like FSS should b contesting for honours but not for a mediocre top8 spot

Some clubs aim low. Pirates are to blame for this mediocrity. Most club will use top 8 as a yardstick to measure their achievement since the Mayfair based side found it hard to finish within top 8 brackets last season.

I would fire u ryt there if I was the owner..just a top 8 spot?? Atleast should have said "I want to change the image of the team to be seen as a one of the teams that challenge for honours..with the support frm management I Blv fss can be there with the top teams" simple!
