Seven Players Released From NFD Club
Milano United Making Big Squad Changes
National First Division club, Milano United, has parted ways with at least seven players from their 2016/17 squad.
Following a disappointing season from which the team finished 14th on the NFD log, the Mother City outfit has made huge changes to the squad.
As reported in edition 1028 of Soccer Laduma, former Bafana Bafana defender, Nasief Morris, is on the list of outgoing players from the club and is joined by Gregory Roelf, Coldrin Coetzee and Terdius Uiseb.
The other players who have been shown the door are Sherwin Naicker, Damien van Rensburg and Taariq Fielies.
Milano’s general manager Sean Ferrier confirmed some of the changes taking place at the club.
“We’ve only exercised an option on Gert Barends. The others are all out of contract on 30 June and there (are) no signings as yet,” said Ferrier.
As reported by the Siya crew, the team’s head coach, Sayed Appels, looks unlikely to retain his position at the club.
“I’ve heard nothing. I don’t know what’s going on but it’s a miracle that Milano stayed up. I don’t think anybody else could have saved the team,” said Appels.
