SuperSport United will now be on the lookout for a new full back after Michael Boxall failed to agree to terms on a new contract at the club.

Boxall has been almost ever-present for Matsatsantsa over the past two season since his arrival from Wellington Phoenix, playing 68 domestic games for the club as he helped them to back-to-back Nedbank Cup titles.
The Siya crew reported back in May that SuperSport were eager to tie down the 28-year-old to a new contract, however, it is thought that they were unable to reach an agreement regarding the future of the player.
‘Boxy’ is nominated for the Telkom Knockout Player of the Tournament award this year after SuperSport reached the final of the competition and will leave the country with five goals to his name.
The club recently handed Grant Kekana a new contract following a number of impressive performances in Boxall’s absence, with the former University of Pretoria man putting on a fine showing in the Nedbank Cup final against Orlando Pirates.
The club's CEO, Stan Matthews, said, “We had an option on Michael’s contract which we did not want to exercise unconditionally. We offered him an amended option which he has declined, a decision which we respect. Michael served us extremely well in his time at the club, we wish him every success in his future.”
It remains to be seen what lies ahead for Boxall following his exit from Pretoria, although it is known that he will be leaving Mzansi following his brief spell here.
