Mamelodi Sundowns Running Out Of Time With Teko Modise, 10 Days Left
Mamelodi Sundowns are running out of time to make a decision on whether or not they will be extending the stay of Teko Modise beyond the expiration date on his contract.
The General, as he is fondly known in the football fraternity, will see his stay with Sundowns come to an end on June 30, this year, however, as confirmed previously by the player’s representative, Jazzman Mahkagane, Masandawana has an added option set on his contract that is yet to be exercised.
However, with just 10 days to go before Modise’s deal expires, Sundowns are yet to make a decision about whether or not the 34-year-old will be in the team’s plans for the new 2017/18 campaign.
The veteran midfielder’s representative has since confirmed that nothing has changed since his recent update on the player’s situation where he stated that the club is yet to make a decision on whether or not they will be exercising the option.
“There is not much that has changed between now and then, Sundowns have until the end of the month according to the contract,” Mahkagane told Soccer Laduma.
Mahkagane also confirmed that Modise has not travelled with the Brazilians to Tunisia ahead of their Champions League clash against Esperance Tunis on Wednesday.
“No, he didn’t go. I was not going to allow him to go because in two weeks his contract comes to an end and I don’t know whether they are going to renew or not,” he added.
“I will wait and see but the reality is that nothing has changed,” The General’s representative concluded.
