Sundowns Respond To Percy Tau’s Arrest Reports

Mamelodi Sundowns Respond To Percy Tau’s Arrest Reports

By Soccer Laduma - Jun 28, 2017 01:03 PM

Mamelodi Sundowns confirmed that their star player has one more court appearance to attend to after being found guilty of breaching traffic laws, but also stated that the matter will not impact the player’s training.

It was reported in local media over the weekend that Tau was arrested for speeding in Limpopo as he was reportedly rushing to attend teammate, Tiyani Mabunda’s charity tournament.

Sunday World also added that the player was subsequently released on R1000 bail and is due to appear in court next month.

The Siya crew subsequently contacted the Limpopo police spokesperson, Lieutenant Colonel Moatshe Ngoepe, yesterday who revealed the official statement from the SAPS in Limpopo.

“A Mamelodi Sundowns player, Percy Tau aged 23 was nabbed by the provincial traffic officers in his White VW Polo at N1 Road next to Nyl Plaza toll gate for exceeding (the) speed limit on the 03 June 2017 at 18:03.”

“Tau was travelling (at) 170k/h instead of the maximum speed limit of 120km/h. He paid R1000 bail at Mokopane Police Station and appeared at Mokopane Regional Court on the 15 June 2017.”

“His case was then postponed to the 07 July 2017,” was the official SAPS statement revealed to Soccer Laduma by Ngoepe.

Soccer Laduma has since gotten in touch with Sundowns’ Media Coordinator, Thulani Thuswa, who confirmed the reports in local media about the 23-year-old Bafana Bafana international, but added that the matter took place nearly a month ago and despite Tau still having to attend one more court hearing, the player will continue with his training as usual.

“Yes, everything they said there (local media) was the truth. This happened a month ago, the player went to Tiyani Mabunda’s tournament. He went to court for speeding. He has one more (court) appearance. He will continue training as normal, nothing has changed,” Thuswa told the Siya crew.

Piece of Cake, Sir Percey. You won't get a criminal record for it. Don't even bother to get an attorney, he or she will charge u more that your court fine. At least its not even compared to what the instagram stars do every week. But plz obey coz S.A. don't want to lose another player again

"I want to finish my career at Sundowns,” Arendse told INDIDANE. “You want to play in the Champions League and for a team that's competing for the league title every season. That's where Sundowns is. That's why I committed. The hard work continues," Arendse concluded
