Maponyane On Musona’s Possible Return To Chiefs
Knowledge Musona linked with Kaizer Chiefs return
Former Kaizer Chiefs striker, Marks Maponyane has discussed a possible return to the PSL for Knowledge and says that he could become one of the greatest strikers in the PSL.
As revealed in Soccer Laduma issue number 1040, the KV Oostende striker remains under contract with his current club, but he's been linked with a move to bring him back to the country, while Naturena is one of his possible destinations. Now Maponyane has said that the details of his contract will play a decisive role in the potential transfer.
“It depends on his contract and maybe, if he’s a free agent, it could happen,” Maponyane told Soccer Laduma. “But, if he’s under contract, it becomes a problem, because once you’re under contract, you have buyout clauses and all of that.”
Maponyane went on to say that he has no doubt that Musona would be an ideal candidate to solve Chiefs’ goalscoring struggles in recent seasons.
“There’s no doubt that he can score goals,” he continued. “If you can recall, in his first game as captain of Zimbabwe, replacing (Willard) Katsande, where he banged in a hat-trick in one of the (AFCON) qualifiers (against Liberia). He really impressed me on the day and showed that he’s a terrific striker. He’s got a nose for goals. When he’s available, he could definitely become one of the greatest strikers in the PSL.”
Musona scored 28 goals in 68 league appearances for Chiefs during his two stints at the club between 2009 and 2011, and in 2014, respectively.
