Kaizer Chiefs’ Steve Komphela On Facing Bidvest Wits: Bad Timing!
Kaizer Chiefs head coach, Steve Komphela, admits that it is a bad time to face Bidvest Wits, despite Chiefs' confidence after claiming their first win of this season's Absa Premiership.
Chiefs defeated Cape Town City 2-0 at the Cape Town Stadium last night, September 13, claiming their first win in the Absa Premiership campaign, while their upcoming opponents, Wits, suffered yet another defeat – at the hands of Golden Arrows.
Speaking after Chiefs’ win over City last night, Komphela admitted that despite the confidence within the Amakhosi camp, it is a bad time to face the Clever Boys, who will be travelling to the FNB Stadium on Saturday, September 16.
“I can imagine what Gavin (Hunt) is saying in the dressing room and knowing Gavin, he is not the one to bring you roses, he is saying his stuff and exactly like that. Bad timing, but again that’s the Absa Premiership,” Komphela told the media.
“But, the first win, it was very important, not only for the players’ confidence, for our supporters as well. We play good football, make no mistake. Three points is huge in the Absa Premiership, three plus one (gives you) four, keep going and we have targets that we have to meet.”
“At Chiefs my man, it is unbelievable. It’s pressure, pressure, pressure. So, when they start winning, then you can face the challenge, with the period that we are going through – with a bit of ease. I thought confidence-wise it was okay, but with Gavin, very difficult match to face,” he added.
