Chiefs Star ‘Not Disappointed’ After Missing Out On Award
Kaizer Chiefs' Ramahlwe Mphahlele Wasn't Disappointed At The PSL Awards
Kaizer Chiefs’ Ramahlwe Mphahlele says that he’s not disappointed at losing out to Thulani Hlatshwayo for the Defender of the Season award, saying his ‘good friend’ deserved to win.
The two players were up against each other earlier this week as they battled it out with Sifiso Hlanti for the gong at the PSL Awards, however, it was the Bidvest Wits skipper that walked away with the trophy after a stellar season in Braamfontein.
Mphahlele, who impressed in his first campaign in Chiefs colours, has been gracious in defeat, praising ‘Tyson’ for his victory.
He told Chiefs’ official website, “I am not disappointed at all… Tyson deserved to win the award. Ironically, I was his captain when we played for South Africa’s Under-20s side and he now captains me at Bafana Bafana. We have become good friends of the years.”
Speaking of the awards themselves, ‘Rama’ explained that they gave him ‘renewed motivation’ for the new season.
He said, “It was interesting to observe that the players who won the awards were mostly from the season’s winning teams. The evening has really given me a renewed motivation going into the new season. I am going to give more and go further than ever before in my quest to win trophies for Kaizer Chiefs.”
