The 30-year-old shot stopper missed the Amakhosi’s last game due to the same problem, however, it appears that it has gotten worse as the days have gone by.
It was reported by the Siya crew on Tuesday that Khune was a doubt for Bafana Bafana’s upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Cape Verde, and it now appears almost certain that Stuart Baxter will have to call up a replacement.
Khune’s former teammate, George Lebese, posted a get well soon message to the ‘keeper on Instagram today, while Jackson Mabokgwane also took to Twitter to wish his international colleague a speedy recovery.
Brilliant Khuzwayo is expected to start in goal once again as he did against Bloemfontein Celtic, although it remains to be seen whether Brylon Petersen or Bruce Bvuma will sit on the bench.
