Kaizer Chiefs’ goalkeepers, as well as Brian Baloyi, were Alex Revoredo’s pallbearers for his funeral yesterday as the club said goodbye to the Brazilian coach.

The 58-year-old sadly passed away recently after a short spell in hospital, with the South African football fraternity speaking fondly of the former Bafana and Orlando Pirates goalkeeper coach in the days that followed.

Now, as Revoredo’s family, friends and colleagues said their final farewell to him on Monday, it was decided that Itumeleng Khune, Brilliant Khuzwayo, Bruce Bvuma, Brylon Petersen and Baloyi would be the ones to carry him.

Chiefs’ players also sang songs in-between the speeches on the day, and Kaizer Motaung spoke of the South American’s spirit.

According to Chiefs’ official website, Motaung said, “Alex pursued his passion by migrating to South Africa and coming to do here exactly what he was doing in Brazil.

“Football brings people together and Alex is a prime example of that. He has now gone back to his creator. The players, however, should know that in the dressing room and on the pitch… Alex’s spirit will be there. He will never be forgotten.”

I don't think it was a funeral, for sure it was a memorial service before his remains fly to Brasil, we are just guessing since our cowditor will always be a cow

Free entrance for Downs fans Posted: 5 September 2017 Time: 03:22 pm Mamelodi Sundowns fans dressed in yellow will be allowed to enter the Lucas Moripe Stadium for free to watch their side in CAF Champions League action later this month. The reigning African champions host Moroccan club Wydad Casablanca in the first leg quarter-final of this year’s competition on 17 September, and Masandawana have offered fans a unique incentive in an attempt to fill up the stadium. “Mamelodi Sundowns will open the gates for fans wearing yellow to watch the CAF Champions League quarterfinals clash with Wydad Casablanca at Lucas Moripe Stadium for free,” read a club statement. “Fans not wearing yellow will pay R20 to watch the Brazilians in the quest to retain the Champions League crown, lifted in Egypt last year.” The match kicks off at 3pm next Sunday afternoon.
