Komphela On Khune, Meyiwa & Another Lead Given Away

Kaizer Chiefs Dropped Points Once Again This Weekend

By Soccer Laduma - Sep 18, 2017 01:40 PM

Steve Komphela has discussed Kaizer Chiefs dropping points from a winning position once again, handing special praise to Itumeleng Khune & Wiseman Meyiwa.

The Glamour Boys were on the brink of securing their second win of the season at the weekend as they entered into the dying moments of their clash with a 1-0 lead over Bidvest Wits.

However, a lapse in concentration saw Amr Gamal capitalise, scoring a last-minute equaliser and securing a draw for the Clever Boys at FNB Stadium. For the fifth time in the last 10 games Chiefs had gone from leading to either lose or draw a match.

Speaking to Chiefs’ official website afterwards, Komphela said, “We gave it away… We conceded a goal in the last minute. That’s it.”

According to the Amakhosi boss, if a team goes a man down like Wits did, it ‘starts to work harder, while the level of concentration also gets better’.

He also praised his shot-stopper, Khune, saying, “Itu a great talent and he’s very experienced.”

Lastly, on the topic of young Meyiwa – playing only his second game – Komphela said, “He did well. I am trying to guide his movements on the pitch. It was his second game and he came through it with flying colours. Wiseman wrote his own chapter. Now we have to manage the expectations (of) him.”

Chiefs’ next game sees them face Maritzburg United on Wednesday, a team that is currently on top of the Absa Premiership table.

Meyiwa is good but we need more young players so that we can guarantee our dominance in seasons to come. This season already we are out of the league race so I suggest we start building a new team, but this needs Komphela to be brave

You said it all my Coach, Meyiwa at age 17, he has written his football chapter. I'm hoping to see Khotso Malope, Malongoane, and Zuma soon, they are excellent in offensive play and can easily mesmerize the opposition. It is about time to place Parker on the bench, he is not adding any value, when he is on the field, we are playing with one man down and opposition teams knows that he is as sweat as sugar, he is no threat at all!

for the past two seasons we watched this in horror as chiefs drop points by letting in goals on the lasr segments of r the game, why defend when it us clear that attack is the best form of defending Mr Komphela .
