Chiefs Close In On Mabena As Stars Confirm Exit
Kaizer Chiefs Are Now Free To Lure Ndumiso Mabena To The Club
Kaizer Chiefs are believed to be closing in on a move for Ndumiso Mabena after Platinum Stars decided against renewing his contract at the club.
The Siya crew has previously reported that the Amakhosi were interested in bringing Mabena on board at the club now that his contract with Dikwena has expired, although Stars had been in talks regarding a potential new deal.
That deal is now off the table though, with the club confirming that the forward and two of his teammates will not be having their contracts renewed in the North West.
They said today, “Platinum Stars can confirm that the club has not renewed contracts of players, Tintswalo Tshabalala, Solomon Mathe and Ndumiso Mabena. All three players had their contracts ending last month, the club then took a decision not to renew their contracts. We wish them well in their future endeavours.”
Chiefs have been linked with moves for Mabena and Tshwarelo Bereng of Chippa United after snapping up Teenage Hadebe and Philani Zulu, however, at this stage there has been no confirmation from the club regarding further potential signings.
Meanwhile, Stars also confirmed that assistant coach, Willem Jackson, has left the club and will not be working with the new man in charge, Peter Butler.
