Pirates Legend Angry At Current Players
Jerry Sikhosana Admits To Being Angry At Orlando Pirates
Orlando Pirates’ 1995 CAF Champions League winner, Jerry Sikhosana, says the club’s former players are angry at the performance of the team last season.
The Buccaneers had a horror campaign in 2016/17 as they finished 11th in the Absa Premiership – outside the top eight for the first time in the PSL era – and ended up with yet another trophyless year.
Seated alongside new signing, Thami Sangweni, and Abbubaker Mobara, at the launch of the club’s new jersey, ‘Legs of Thunder’ admitted that it’s hard to see the club struggling during this period, telling the media that they need to fight for the jersey.
Sikhosana said, “Yes, we’re angry because of the performance of the team last season… When I walk in the street, I have to answer why the team performed badly, and I can’t answer because I’m not close to the players.
“I can’t enjoy my legendary status because we all look bad when the team is not doing well. People want to know why, and I can’t answer… It’s all about the players’ attitude. They need to fight for that jersey and make sure that the club wins.”
Pirates will wear their new jersey for the first time on July 29th against Kaizer Chiefs.
