Chiefs & Pirates Target Extends Wits Deal
James Keene Has Committed His Future To Bidvest Wits
He may have been a target for Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates, but James Keene is going nowhere for the time being having extended his stay with Bidvest Wits.
The 31-year-old averaged more than a goal every two games in the Absa Premiership following his move to South Africa in 2016, and was able to help the Clever Boys clinch the league title in his first full season at the club.
Keene’s contract with Wits was due to expire at the end of this month, however the Siya crew has been informed that the player has put pen to paper on a new deal.
The Englishman had attracted interest from the likes of the Amakhosi, the Buccaneers and SuperSport United as he approached the end of his deal in Braamfontein, however he did previously tell the Siya crew that he was happy at Wits and was not looking to move on.

Wits’ CEO, Jose Ferreira, has now confirmed to the crew that Keene will be with the team next season as they look to defend their league title.
