In This Week’s Edition Of Soccer Laduma

By Soccer Laduma - Sep 19, 2017 03:05 PM

In anticipation of this week’s 1041st edition of Soccer Laduma, we preview some of the features included. The latest edition will be available at your nearest outlet tomorrow, Wednesday, 20 September.

Wayne Sandilands interview

Why did the former Mamelodi Sundowns goalkeeper not hesitate to jump at the opportunity when Orlando Pirates came calling? Soccer Laduma editor Vuyani Joni caught up with the Benoni-born goal minder as he discusses his move away from the Chloorkop-based club. Sandilands also talks about his recent Bafana Bafana experience.

Steve Komphela feature

“Steve Must Fall” is a chorus that has been sung one time too many by a certain section of Kaizer Chiefs fans, but is he really the man to blame? Does he have the quality players? Is the support structure solid enough for him to success? Soccer Laduma’s Kyle Smith explores all angles, with the help of some of the Amakhosi legends who make their feelings known.

Downs’ CAF CL review/preview

Mamelodi Sundowns have done themselves a huge favour with the 1-0 win over Wydad Casablanca in the first leg of the CAF Champions League quarter-finals on Sunday. They go into next Saturday’s second encounter high on confidence, and we get Downs legends and supporters to chip in on the Brazilians’ chances.

Also in issue 1041…

Mark Mayambela interview

It came as a surprise for many to see Mark Mayambela making the move to Chippa United from Ajax Cape Town, where he did very well last season. What motivated this move? How does he feel to be reuniting with Teboho Moloi, whom he worked with at Orlando Pirates? Soccer Laduma’s Celine Abrahams gets the answers from the skilful player nicknamed ‘Prof’.

Rhulani Manzini interview

Rhulani Manzini’s move to AmaZulu is another that not many might have seen coming, especially looking at his goal return for Chippa United last season. In an interview with Soccer Laduma’s Kyle Smith, the burly striker talks about what really convinced him Usuthu were the right club for him and reveals his huge admiration for Cavin Johnson.

Sol Campbell interview

In a continuation of last week’s interview, the Arsenal legend and former England international talks in-depth about South Africa as a country and a footballing nation. He goes on to share memories from his illustrious playing career as well as his on-field duels with Benni McCarthy.

NFD Focus

Highlands Park assistant coach, Les Grobler, talks about the lack of goals in the PSL nowadays. He also shares the club’s aims going forward and his feelings on his son making it back into the Bafana Bafana squad.

Revolving Column

This week we hear from Golden Arrows head coach Clinton Larsen about riding the crest of a wave early on in the season, which has seen them leapfrog to the top of the Absa Premiership table (before Tuesday evening’s fixtures). What has contributed to their brilliant start to the campaign? Find out from the coach!

Siyagobhoza

In this week’s edition of Siyagobhoza, the crew bares the latest news on the PSL’s sponsorship standoff with a club in the elite league, Kaizer Chiefs’ link with two big-name coaches, an Orlando Pirates star who could be sold and a must-read special feature on a Mamelodi Sundowns defender who looks to be on his way out!

My coach thanks for passing the City test. It was a confidence booster... Now let's go to Wits and meet the students. Let's be very careful of that tennis court field. Train the team to be tactically aware of how to deal with the aerial balls Hunt will be throwing at us. We need Gandaganda back to unsettle the Tyson and Bongani Khumalos combination. We also need him to help our defense to defend set-pieces. Lastly...be careful of that Gamal laaty tu! Nyauza must be vigilant the whole 95 minutes! Good luck coach and so far so good.
