Hunt Confirms Wits’ Swoop For Big Name Duo
Gavin Hunt Has Confirmed That Bidvest Wits Are Closing In On Two Players
Gavin Hunt has confirmed that Bidvest Wits are closing in on both Daylon Claasen and Thami Sangweni, with the former arriving for training at the club on Thursday.
The Siya crew reported on Wednesday that the Clever Boys were interested in bringing Claasen back from Germany after his 1860 Munich contract comes to an end this month, while Thamsanqa Sangweni was spotted at the club’s training.
Claasen, 27, and Sangweni, 28, have both been linked with several other clubs in South Africa in recent months, however it would appear that it is Hunt who will have them available to him going into the 2017/18 season.
Regarding Claasen, Hunt said, “He’s coming in the morning. I feel that with Ngele going we need a pass. Every team needs that final ball, and I feel he can give us that.”
The attacking midfielder has spent almost a decade in Europe having left Ajax Cape Town for Ajax Amsterdam as a teenager back in 2008.
Meanwhile, on the topic of Sangweni he replied, “Yeah, he’s with us at the moment. They’re negotiating about it, he came today (Wednesday).”
Hunt also suggested that they were looking for a ‘big’ striker ahead of the new campaign, although wouldn’t go into any further detail.
