Agent Upset About Former Chiefs Striker ‘Fitness’ Reports
Former Kaizer Chiefs Striker Still At Free State Stars
The representatives of Edward Manqele are not pleased with the reports questioning the player’s fitness.
Having parted ways with Kaizer Chiefs in April, Manqele has intensified his search for a new club for the upcoming season and the striker has been training with Free State Stars.
Manqele, 30, made an appearance for Ea Lla Koto against Chiefs during last weekend’s Bokone Bophirima Maize Cup.
‘Sluggish’ and ‘out of shape’ are some of the terms coming up when the Randfontein-born player’s name is mentioned. Manqele’s agent from M Sport Management, Michael Ngobeni, is appealing the player be given a chance to focus on reviving his career.
“Any player or athlete who spends some time without playing will lose fitness here and there. But what is disappointing the most is to say Jabu (Manqele) is on ‘trial’. Jabu and Free State Stars understand each other. There is no love lost between them. That’s where the player started his professional career.
“The club is also happy for having the player back with them and has given him an opportunity to train with the team. It’s not a ‘trial’ that other people are making it out to be or look like. It’s like some people out there are trying to put the player under unnecessary pressure. Free State Stars understand the player very well. Jabu was excited about going back to the club where he started his professional career to train with them. I can get Jabu a club elsewhere, but like I say, he and the club (Stars) understand each other,” said Ngobeni.
Stars are expected to make additions to the squad for next season for their newly appointed coach, Sammy Troughton, and his technical team.
