Ex-Chiefs Striker Nets In Friendly Win
Former Kaizer Chiefs Striker Regaining Form
Edward Manqele seems to be rediscovering his form at Free State Stars under Coach Luc Eymael.
The former Kaizer Chiefs striker, who has been working on improving his fitness levels since re-joining Ea Lla Koto, started in two consecutive matches for Eymael’s side, against Polokwane City and Maritzburg United prior to the FIFA international break.
It has now been confirmed from the Bethlehem outfit that the 30-year-old forward netted a goal and was impressive for Eymael’s team in their recent friendly match against NFD opponents.
“Free State Stars look to be firing on all cylinders after a clinical display of attacking football saw the Premiership side oust Super Eagles 4-0 at the Free State Stars development grounds on Saturday.
“With the international break halting the domestic season, Coach Luc Eymael was keen to use the friendly fixture to increase the fitness of some of his first team hopefuls. And off-season signing Edward Manqele was the first to make an early impression, netting 14 minutes into the encounter after a sublime one-two with skilful winger Sinethemba Jantjie.
“Six minutes later the former Kaizer Chiefs striker was involved in another goal as his effort was deflected into the back of the net by the opposition defender. The National First Division side would have been aggrieved with their lack of composure as their best spell in the game saw them miss a host of good opportunities.
“However, Ea Lla Koto saw off the danger and netted two further goals before full-time through defender Bangaly Keita and second half substitute Danny Venter,” Stars confirmed on their website.
