Ex-Chiefs Midfielder’s Form: Six Goals Scored
Former Kaizer Chiefs Midfielder In Great Form For Zimbabwe
Former Kaizer Chiefs midfielder, Ovidy Karuru, has now scored six goals for Zimbabwe in the COSAFA Cup that is currently underway in the North West.
Karuru, who was released from Chiefs at the end of 2015/16 season, spent the second half of this past season playing for AmaZulu in the NFD. The 28-year-old is captaining Zimbabwe in the COSAFA Cup and he has done well in leading the team with his impressive performances thus far.
The former Amakhosi man has scored six goals so far in the tournament. With his goals, Karuru has become the second all-time highest goal scorer at the COSAFA Cup.
He has helped Zimbabwe to qualify for the semi-finals of the competition.
When confirming his departure from Chiefs last year, Karuru’s parting message for the club’s supporters was an emotional one.
“To all Amakhosi supporters thank you for the support you gave me for the past 2 years though I didn’t get a chance to prove myself but thank you for the messages of encouragement that you been sending...may God bless you all...and to Zimbabweans who been following my progress...sorry for letting you all down.....but I promise you come next season where ever I will go....I WILL PLAY AND I WILL PERFOM.....so those who know me and who have seen me play before...please JUDGE me next season....GOD BLESS YOU ALL,” Karuru’s wrote on Facebook at the time.
