Edward 'Magents' Motale: With Support Pirates Can Work Wonders
Former Orlando Pirates defender Edward 'Magents' Motale has explained what it will take for the Buccaneers to return to their former glory this season.
Pirates have won once against Chippa United and drawn their other game against Baroka so far in the new league season and the former Bafana Bafana international has explained that, even though coach Milutin Sredojevic’s first spell at the club wasn’t successful, he seems to be doing well.
"I’m going to talk history here. History can repeat itself, and sometimes it does not. The last time Micho was with the team he didn’t do too well. But now, he’s won one and drawn the other,” he explained. “There was a lack of concentration against Baroka, but if not for that it would have been two out of two.”
The 1996 AFCON winner went on to say that it’s still too early to judge, but that he sees some good signs from the team so far and, with enough support, the team can return to their best this season.
“Look, it’s still early days, and we can’t really say what will happen,” he added. “But, at least there are some signs that Pirates are going in the Pirates direction. The only thing now is that we just need to give the coach 100% support and then things will come right. I’m talking from the players’ side, the supporters’ side and the management’s side, they need to give support and then Pirates can work wonders.”
