Born Theophilus Doctorson Khumalo on this day in 1967, ‘Doc’ went on to become one of the most successful and iconic footballers in the country, reaching legendary status with the Amakhosi during his 15 years at the club.
Following his debut at 19 in 1987, Khumalo scored 75 goals in 397 games for the Glamour Boys and was also the man who found the back of the net for the South African national team in their first game back after re-admission to FIFA in 1992.
Khumalo played for Chiefs his whole career aside from short loan moves to Ferro Carril Oeste in Argentina and Columus Crew in America, finishing his Bafana Bafana career with nine goals in 50 games.
‘16V’ was also a leading member of the Bafana side that won the 1996 African Cup of Nations and also made his debut in the movie industry in the 2010 film, ‘Themba’ where he played himself.
