Khumalo Talks Legends Reunion
Doctor Khumalo Delighted For Reuniting With Other Legends
South African football legends recently teamed up for games in Limpopo in honour of the late Minister of Public Service and Administration, Collins Chabane, who died in a car accident two years ago.
The Collins Chabane games were held in Malamulele last weekend. Doctor Khumalo and some of the well-known legends in Mzansi football played in a game between Gauteng and Limpopo legends.
The likes of Brian Baloyi, Edward Motale, Isaac Shai, Fabian McCarthy, Joseph Makhanya, Benedict Vilakazi, Jabulani Mendu, Teboho Mokoena, Frank Makua, Silver Shabalala, Thapelo Liau and Khumalo were in the Gauteng legends team.
The Limpopo legends’ team featured the likes of Alex Bapela, Tonic Chabalala, Mpho Maleka, Ishmael Maluleke, Rodney Thobejane and Sidney Moshikaro, among others.
As confirmed by Khumalo in his latest weekly column in Soccer Laduma, Limpopo legends beat their Gauteng counterparts 5-3.
“The experience was amazing and it was really good to catch up with some of the legends I had not seen in a while. The whole event opened my eyes and proved what I said in one of my previous columns about not looking down on anyone. People think cities like Johannesburg, Cape Town and Durban, for instance, are better than the rural and not so advanced cities or townships, but you will be surprised at what you can find in those underrated cities. People of Malamulele are so rich, respectful and have a lot to offer. They might not be rich financially but spiritually, they are some of the richest I have come across. Their love, passion and respect is just on another level and if just half of our people were like them, this country would be a better place to live in,” said Khumalo.
Khumalo’s column is in edition 1039 of Soccer Laduma.
