Claasen signed for Wits earlier today...
He was a free agent after leaving 1860 Munich.
The 27-year-old left South Africa for Amsterdam in 2008...
From there he joined Lierse in 2010...
He then joined Lech Poznan in 2013 before moving to Munich.
The misfortune of a German club has been to Bidvest Wits’ gain, with Daylon Claasen set to turn out in the Absa Premiership rather than the Bundesliga 2 next season.
Claasen, 27, recently penned a contract with the Clever Boys after deciding to make a return to South Africa after nearly a decade in Europe, although it nearly didn’t happen after impressing Würzburger Kickers last year.
The Siya crew has been informed that Kickers, who were seventh in the league and pushing for promotion, had an agreement with Claasen regarding a move once his 1860 Munich contract came to an end, with the attacker set to join the join the club in July.
However, a crazy string of results saw Kickers win just one game in the second half of the season, losing 10 of their last 16 games, with the club being relegated to the third tier at the end of the 2016/17 season.
Their relegation meant that, once it was confirmed, Claasen was able to pull out of the move, but it meant that he had to move quickly in order to get himself a new club for the 2017/18 campaign.
Claasen will now be looking to prove his worth with the Clever Boys as he looks to play his first PSL game since leaving the country as a teenager nearly 10 years ago.
