Motaung: Why We Signed Jayiya
Bobby Motaung Has Explained Why Kaizer Chiefs Signed Bhongolethu Jayiya
Bobby Motaung says that Kaizer Chiefs signed Bhongolethu Jayiya because of the ‘kind of system’ the club plays, saying that the move has been in the works for a couple of weeks.
The Amakhosi announced Jayiya’s move yesterday afternoon, snapping up the former Cape Town City man on a three-year contract at Naturena.
Jayiya played 29 games for City in 2016/17 as he helped them to a CAF Confederations Cup spot and the Telkom Knockout title, scoring six goals in all competitions under the tutelage of Eric Tinkler.
Now, following the confirmation of both Teenage Hadebe and Philani Zulu, Motaung believes that Jayiya will be a good signing for the club.
He told their official website, “We have been in talks with Bhongo over the last two weeks and finally signed him this afternoon (Thursday)… We discussed with Cape Town City and they gave us a good report about his attitude. We also looked at the kind of system we are playing, with his agility and experience, he will come handy.”
Meanwhile, Chiefs still have Tanaka Chinyahara and Mahamadou Traore on trial at the club as they continue to look for new players ahead of the 2017/18 Absa Premiership campaign.
