Bhongolethu Jayiya Bids Farwell To Cape Town City
Bhongolethu Jayiya has said his goodbyes to his Cape Town City teammates, following an unforgettable season in the blue and gold colours.
The 27-year-old made history with the Mother City-based club twice in the 2016/17 campaign, where he became the club’s first ever goal-scorer in their inaugural season and netted in the Premier Soccer League’s fastest ever hat-trick to date.
The winger went on to play his part in the team’s 2016 Telkom Knockout winning campaign and was influential in City finishing third on the Absa Premiership league standings.
Jayiya scored six and assisted two goals in all competitions in the 2016/17 season, one of which was the winning goal in the club’s first ever Cape Town derby against Ajax Cape Town last year, September.

However, despite how influential he became to the City side, indications are that Jayiya’s camp and the Mother City-based club were unable to reach an agreement to extend his stay beyond the 2016/17 season.
The player’s contract comes to an end on June 30 and he has since taken to his official Instagram account to bid farewell to his teammates, the club and the supporters.
Jayiya will now look to take the next step in his professional football career when he becomes a free agent on July, 01 and as reported previously on Soccer Laduma, the likes of Kaizer Chiefs, Orlando Pirates, Golden Arrows and Platinum Stars are all said to be interested in the player’s services.
