Benni McCarthy: There Are No Super Stars Here, My Players Are Humble
Cape Town City head coach, Benni McCarthy has spoken highly of the team spirit within his camp saying that he will be prepared for both the good and bad days.
City are currently high-flying in their domestic campaign, securing two out of two wins in the Absa Premiership and booking their place in the final of the 2017 MTN8 competition.
The Mother City-based club’s head coach revealed that despite the positive energy at hand, he will be able to deal with any problems that his side might face in the future.
“What I have realised from this group, here (are) no superstars, they are such humble guys and easy to work with, so I think when there (are) problems, if problems eventually creeps in, I think we are grown up and the group has an open relationship where we can talk about the problems that we face and how we will deal with it as a group,” McCarthy told media at a press conference on Monday, September 11.
“So, I think that is the beauty of our team, we do things as a group and we have open discussions and I have conversations in between corridors with Robyn, everyone, and I try to speak different languages. Me having those kinds of conversations, I am problem-solving with players without them even knowing and me just figuring out what they like. So, that’s how we go, like I said – when those days come, we will be able to deal with those kinds of problems. We have our feet on the ground, we don’t get ahead of ourselves, we take it game by game and we enjoy every game,” he added.
