Why Mamelodi Sundowns Could Opt Against Registering Their Two Foreign Strikers
Mamelodi Sundowns could opt against registering their two foreign strikers, Cuthbert Malajila and Mogakolodi Ngele, due to Head Coach Pitso Mosimane’s pursuit of defending their CAF Champions League trophy.
As previously reported on Soccer Laduma, the Brazilians are set to make a decision on the immediate future of both Malajila and Ngele in the coming weeks, after the duo returned from their loan stint with Bidvest Wits.
However, Head Coach Mosimane could opt against adding the two foreigners to his plans for the new 2017/18 campaign, as the duo will not be able to feature for the team in the Champions League.
Both Ngele and Malajila made appearances in this year’s CAF Champions League campaign for the Clever Boys, which means that the duo is currently cup-tied in the competition which is still underway.
Indications are that should Sundowns look to add any more players to their books in the coming weeks, Head Coach Mosimane will want players who are able to contribute to the team’s run in the Champions League as they edge closer to defending their title as the reigning champions.
However, the team is set to return to training next week, where Mosimane and his technical team will possibly be making the necessary changes to the squad ahead of the new 2017/18 campaign.
