Why A Move To Europe Is Unlikely To Materialise For Manyama

By Soccer Laduma - Jul 05, 2017 05:16 PM

Lebogang Manyama is a wanted man by an undisclosed club in Europe and Soccer Laduma takes a look at why a move abroad for the 26-year-old is unlikely to materialise.

The Siya crew reported in this week’s edition of Soccer Laduma that Cape Town City placed a €1 million (±R15 million) price tag on Manyama’s services, enough to possibly make any suitor shy away from their interest in the player.

Siya sources have indicated that along with Mamelodi Sundowns, an unnamed club abroad is keen on Manyama, however, the chances are slim that a European club will complete a move for the player.

There is a poor possibility that any interested European may be interested in Manyama, given his high market value and age.

Manyama will be turning 27-years-old this year and a move abroad at this point is highly unlikely, due to the player having no experience in European football after plying his trade in Mzansi throughout his career thus far.

European clubs are known to secure services of South African players who are 24-years-old and younger, giving them enough time to obtain the needed European experience and technique before reaching the prime of their professional football career.

Keagan Dolly, who turned 24-years-old this year, is the latest South African to have made the switch to a top flight club in Europe (France’s Montpellier) following his impressive performances in the Premier Soccer League.

However, on the other hand, if the Brazilians are keen on approaching City for the player’s services, it remains to be seen whether Sundowns will table Comitis’ asking price.

What is wrong with spending the rest of your career in the PSL coz all the players that go abroad do not make any Impact but return home 2 or 3 seasons later

Eish mara SL, with your Cut and Paste stories, Recycling and Speculations but i fully agree with you. It also remains to be seen if Sundowns can take out Commuta's asking price
