Transfer Update: Still No Decision Made On Mamelodi Sundowns Goalkeeper
Mamelodi Sundowns are yet to come to a conclusion about whether or not their goalkeeper will be forming part of the team’s plans for the 2017/18 season.
It has been reported over the past few months that Sundowns and Wayne Sandilands were locked in talks and negotiations about a new contract for the shot-stopper, however, nothing has been concluded just yet.
Sandilands’ existing deal with Masandawana will come to an end on June 30 and with no decision yet, the 33-year-old will become a free agent on July 01.
The Siya crew has since been informed that the veteran goalkeeper has not travelled with the Brazilians to Ethiopia for the team’s CAF Champions League group encounter against Saint George.
Sundowns will lock horns with Saint George for the second time in the group stages on Saturday, July 01, where they will be one step closer to progressing further in the competition and defending their title.
However, indications are that Sandilands’ future at the Chloorkop-based club is currently hanging in doubt and it remains to be seen whether the shot-stopper will be donning the Ka Bo Yellows in the 2017/18 season.
Sundowns’ Media Coordinator, Thulani Thuswa, was contacted for comment about Sandilands’ contract situation at the club but was unavailable at the time.
