Transfer Update: Mamelodi Sundowns To Add Goalkeeper To Their Roster For The New Season?
Mamelodi Sundowns could look to hold onto the services of Thela Ngobeni this season, following the end of Wayne Sandilands’ contract with the Brazilians.
Sandilands’ saw his stay with Masandawana come to an end on June 30, despite ongoing talks and negotiations about extending the 33-year-old’s stay at the club. However, Sundowns are yet to confirm the player's departure.
As reported previously on Soccer Laduma, sources have indicated that Maritzburg United are close to concluding a deal for the goalkeeper but it is yet to be confirmed by the Team of Choice.
Sundowns currently have Kennedy Mweene and Denis Onyango on their books, while Thela Ngobeni has returned from his loan stint with Free State Stars.
It was previously revealed on Soccer Laduma that Ea Lla Koto approached Sundowns for the permanent sale of the shot-stopper, however, indications are that Masandawana will look to hold on to Ngobeni’s services in the new 2017/18 season.
Masandawana has booked their place in the quarter-finals of the CAF Champions League and should they progress further in the competition, the Brazilians will once again be faced with a tough schedule in the 2017/18 campaign.
Although, with the July/August transfer window still in its early stages, it remains to be seen whether Sundowns will make any new additions and adjustments in their goalkeeping department, however, as it stands indications are that Ngobeni and Mweene will be battling it out for the number two spot.
