Sangweni Surfaces In Gauteng, Soweto Giants To Miss Out
Thamsanqa Sangweni Close To Joining New Club
Chippa United midfielder, Thamsanqa Sangweni, is at Bidvest Wits and it looks like his move to the club could soon be concluded.
The Siya crew reported in April, in issue number 1019 of Soccer Laduma, that Chippa were expected to welcome offers for the midfielder, despite him having signed a new long-term deal with the club in December last year.
Sources have confirmed to the Siya crew that the 28-year-old has arrived at Wits to conclude a deal with the league champions.
“Thami Sangweni is at Wits. It looks like he will be playing for the club in the new season,” said the source.
Another source close to Chippa confirmed that the move for the player from the Port Elizabeth club to Wits is imminent.
“The negotiations are ongoing. The negotiations haven’t been finalised yet, but could soon be concluded. The player is there (Wits). Chippa wants to cash in on him,” said the source.
The source added that Chippa’s CEO, Peter Koutroulis, is currently in Johannesburg to facilitate Sangweni’s move to the Students. Soweto giants Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates were previously linked with the player, although he is now likely to join Wits like Xolani Mlambo did when he left the Chilli Boys for the Students in August last year.
