Teko Modise Spotted In Cape Town, City Deal Imminent?
Teko ‘The General’ Modise was spotted with Cape Town City’s Benni McCarthy over the weekend with escalating rumours that the club could be set to conclude a deal for the player in the coming days.
The 34-year-old midfielder parted ways with Mamelodi Sundowns last week, following a mutual agreement between the player’s camp and the Chloorkop-based club.
Now, as The General is set to take the next step of his professional football career, Soccer Laduma has been informed by a reliable source that the player has been spotted at a restaurant in Cape Town at the weekend, where the 34-year-old was in the company of his representative and City head coach, McCarthy.
Sources have also indicated that City has been in progressive talks and negotiations with Modise’s camp about possibly bringing the player on board with the Mother City-based club and a deal for the player is believed to be imminent at this stage.
If all goes well, Modise could be set to put pen to paper on a contract with the 2016 Telkom Knockout champions in the coming days, where he will bolster the needed experience to Head Coach McCarthy’s squad for the 2017/18 campaign.
City recently completed the signing of Lyle Lakay from Bloemfontein Celtic and as it stands, the club is expected to make an official announcement about Modise in the coming days, where the 34-year-old will become the club’s fourth signing ahead of the new 2017/18 campaign.
Contacted for comment, both John Comitis and Modise’s representative, Jazzman Makhagane were unavailable to comment on the matter at the time.
