SuperSport’s New Signing Arrives, Unveiling Imminent

By Soccer Laduma - Jul 24, 2017 09:40 PM
SuperSport United look to have completed their first signing of the season after Siyabonga Nhlapo joined up with the team ahead of their camp in Polokwane.

Matsatsantsa recently came back to training following a short break this month, and will now begin their preparations for 2017/18 under the watchful eye of new head coach, Eric Tinkler.

The Siya crew reported recently that the Wits defender was set to join SuperSport after falling down the pecking order in Braamfontein, and it now looks as though the deal has been completed.

Nhlapo, a Bafana international, spent the second half of last season on loan with Highlands Park after falling behind both Nazeer Allie and Reeve Frosler, and Tinkler has been on the lookout for a right back due to Michael Boxall’s exit for the American Major Soccer League.

According to Siya sources, the 28-year-old has arrived in camp with SuperSport and will be travelling with them for their camp in Polokwane that gets underway this week.

Meanwhile, young goalkeeper, Thakasani Mbanjwa, who has been training with the club, is also joining the club on camp and Dove Wome – a reported target for Orlando Pirates – is back with the team ahead of the new season.

ANOTHER AFRICAN PAYDAY FOR DOWNS : Mamelodi Sundowns’ progression to the quarter-finals of this year’s restructured CAF Champions League has already guaranteed the holders a pay day that almost equals the Absa Premiership title winners’ cheque. The Brazilians have already secured themselves R8,750, 000 for reaching the last eight, where they face Moroccan giants Wydad Casablanca in September, coming at just under R1 million less than the R10 million reward offered by sponsors ABSA to the league winners.
